In one line: EdgeTest is a research tool, not an adviser. Every backtest here is a hypothetical simulation - past performance, real or simulated, does not predict future results.

01

No SEBI registration

EdgeTest is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as an investment adviser, research analyst, stock broker, or in any other capacity. EdgeTest provides software tools for research and education: it lets you test YOUR OWN trading ideas against historical market data.

EdgeTest does not give recommendations, does not publish buy or sell calls, does not manage money, and does not solicit trades in any security. Because it provides no advice and no recommendations, it operates as an analysis tool, not as an advisory service.

02

Not investment advice

Nothing on this website - backtest results, AI-generated explanations, screener output, strategy templates, market data, charts, or any other number or sentence - is investment advice, a recommendation, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security.

You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions. Before acting on anything you learn here, consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser who can consider your personal financial situation.

03

Hypothetical and simulated performance

Every backtest result on EdgeTest, including the demo strategies and any CAGR or return figure shown anywhere on this site, is hypothetical, simulated performance. These results were produced by applying rules to historical data after the fact. They do not represent actual trading, and no real money was ever at risk in producing them.

Simulated results have inherent limitations. They are designed with the benefit of hindsight. They do not reflect the impact of real order execution: actual fills, liquidity, market impact, partial fills, or the emotional discipline required to follow a system through losing streaks. Modelled costs, slippage and margins are estimates that will differ from your real-world costs.

Past performance, whether real or simulated, does not predict future results. A strategy that performed well historically can lose money in the future. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve results similar to any backtest shown on this site.

04

Market data

Live market pages use data sourced from the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), delayed by roughly 15 minutes during market hours; outside market hours they show the last session's close, labelled with its date. Backtests use end-of-day NSE data (bhavcopy and derived datasets).

Data can contain errors, gaps, or delays, and is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. EdgeTest is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NSE or any exchange.

05

Derivatives risk

Futures and options are leveraged instruments and involve a high degree of risk. Option buyers can lose the entire premium paid; option sellers can lose substantially more than the premium received. A simulated options result on EdgeTest is not a statement that the same trades could have been executed in the real market at the prices shown, and is not a promise of real-world feasibility.

06

Educational purpose

EdgeTest exists for education and research: to help you understand how rule-based strategies would have behaved historically, with honest costs and honest data. Trading and investing involve risk of loss. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose, and never treat any backtest as a guarantee.
