What the numbers say
Short lines written by fixed rules from the company's own filings and shareholding. A line appears only when the figures cross the rule (for example sales growing three years running), and each names the numbers behind it. Nothing here is a view on whether to own the share.

Latest quarterIn the quarter to September 2026 (results filed 17 Oct 2026), income rose 18.4% from a year earlier to Rs 10,394 cr and profit rose 21.0% to Rs 1,475 cr.

Nothing in the filings we hold crosses one of our rules yet. Each rule needs a few complete years of results, so recently listed companies often show nothing here.

Each line is written by a fixed rule from the company's own filings and share price, and names the figures it uses. It describes what happened; it is not advice about the share.

How the share moved on results
For each quarterly result we hold: the change from the share's close on the last trading day before the filing to its close on the first trading day after it. Results can land during market hours or after the close, and this window covers both. It shows what happened, not what will happen next time.

Over the last 7 results, the share rose on 3 and fell on 4, and moved by 3% or more on 0.

What Central Bank of India does
A short, human-reviewed summary of the business, written from public sources. Background, not analysis, and not updated intraday.
business summary

Founded in 1911 as the first Indian bank wholly owned and run by Indians, at a time when British-controlled banks dominated the market. Placed under RBI's Prompt Corrective Action framework in 2017 over a heavy pile of bad loans, it was released in September 2022 once its finances improved. The government still owns close to 90% of its shares and must reduce this to meet SEBI's public-float deadline.

PSU Banks

2
2What it sells

Savings and current accounts, personal, home, vehicle and MSME loans, corporate and government-linked lending, treasury operations.

3
3Who buys it

Retail depositors and borrowers, and small and mid-sized businesses, served through a large pan-India branch network.

4
4How it earns

Earns the spread between deposit and lending rates. Profitability was squeezed for years by a large pile of bad loans, which triggered the RBI's PCA restrictions; asset quality and capital ratios have since improved markedly, helped by repeated government capital infusions.

Where the cash went
Profit is an accounting figure; cash flow is what actually moved. Cash from running the business, plus or minus what was spent on or received from investments, plus or minus what came from or went to lenders and shareholders, equals the change in cash.

In FY26 the business moved Rs 2,804 Cr through operations; for a lender that is mostly loans made and deposits taken, not trading cash.
